Honors Program
Richland’s Honors Program provides highly motivated students with advanced coursework, academic and professional resources, honors-themed field trips, and opportunities for for-credit special research projects.
To be qualified, students must:
- be high school graduates or have completed GEDs
- have earned:
- cumulative 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale in high school or upon transferring
- cumulative 4.375 on a 5.0 scale in high school or upon transferring
- 12 credit hours at Richland with a cumulative 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- have no need for developmental courses and be college-ready
Honors Student Offerings
- opportunity to apply for Honors Program Scholarship & Scherer Transfer Scholarship
- eligibility for Phi Theta Kappa, the two-year college national honors society, and a one-time waiver of the admission fee (if eligible)
- special honors-designated course sections with limited enrollment
- honors designation coursework on transcripts
- opportunities for one-on-one research projects with faculty after the first semester
- regular honors-themed field trips and other co-curricular events
- opportunities for leadership and service at Richland
