Decatur, IL – Throughout February, Richland Community College is hosting multiple events to celebrate Black History Month.

The schedule includes:

  • Black Student Association Kicks Off (Thursday, Feb. 1)
    • The Black Student Association (BSA) held their kick-off meeting to learn what changes and events students want to see on campus. The BSA is a student-run organization with faculty support. Elections will be held in March.
  • Black Greek Week (Feb. 5-9)
    • Faculty/staff are invited to wear fraternity/sorority regalia all week long.
  • Black Greek Week Information Tables (Wednesday, Feb. 7)
    • Black fraternity & sorority representatives will be on campus to talk with students.
  • EnRiching our History (Saturday. Feb. 17)
    • This is the second year of the EnRiching Our History awards ceremony. Starting at 6 p.m. in the Shilling Community Education Center salons, this event will celebrate the accomplishments of our students and community members.
  • Free Lunch (Thursday, Feb. 29)
    • There will be a free soul food lunch in the Café starting at 11 a.m.
