Illinois Works Pre-Apprenticeship Program

Illinois Works’ free Pre-Apprenticeship program prepares students to transition into a Department of Labor registered apprenticeship in the trades. The training covers positions in multiple trades, including: Carpenters, Electricians, Sheet Metal Workers, Plumbers & Steamfitters, Laborers, Bricklayers, Glaziers, Roofers, and Operators.

The program offers classroom instruction, wrap-around services, student support services, stipends, and industry recognized certifications (MC3, OSHA, First Aid/CPR).

Short Term Training (Less than 9 months)

MC3 Core Curriculum Certification
OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certification
First Aid/CPR Certification

Who Should Apply?

All Illinois residents are welcome with an emphasis on women, people of color, and veterans

Eligibility Requirements

To enter the program, applicants must:

  • be 18 years old or older
  • be an Illinois resident
  • have a high school diploma or GED

Support Services (available as needed)

Childcare, Transportation Assistance, Housing Assistance, Math & Reading Tutoring, and Mental Health Counseling
