Upcoming Plays and Performances

for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf 

Ntozake Shange’s for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf [written and produced in 1976] is a choreopoem, a theatrical work blending poetry, music, and dance. Seven women, each representing a different aspect of the Black female experience, share their stories through powerful monologues and collective performances. The piece explores themes of womanhood, sexuality, trauma, and resilience within the context of racism and sexism. Through rhythmic language and evocative movement, the women express their pain, anger, and ultimately, their strength and solidarity. The play culminates in a celebration of Black womanhood and a message of hope.
